Why you should join the TFA

The Tenant Farmers Association provides dedicated advice, information and support to all non-land-owning farmers in England and Wales.


The Tenant Farmers Association was formed in 1981 by a group of tenant farmers who felt that their interests were not being forcefully represented by existing bodies.  Today, the TFA is the only organisation dedicated to supporting all farmers who do not own the land that they operate.

Advice When You Need It

TFA members have access to free, specific, one-to-one expert advice on all agricultural, tenancy and land occupation queries from a dedicated head office team, including the TFA’s own Rural Surveyors. Support is available at no extra cost by telephone, email, letter or, when needed, through a face-to-face meeting.

Information When You Want It

TFA members can access a vast and growing library of expert guidance and specialist information for non-landowning and tenant farmers, featuring practical farming advice, tenancy guidance and business resources available online and in accessible printed formats.

Supporting You All the Time

The TFA will be working tirelessly for your benefit. This includes regular contact with the major rural estate landlords, lobbying Government at all levels, from Ministers and MPs and MSs to Local Councils, working with the media, other farming organisations and Professional Bodies, plus providing member benefits, services and discounts.

The TFA runs a variety of farming events open to all, from free webinars and expert panels to local meetings and farm walks. Event recordings are available on our website’s News section and on our YouTube channel.

Industry Updates

Each week, the TFA issues a mid-week farming bulletin with essential industry news, deadlines and sector-specific insights. Members also receive a printed newsletter six times a year, featuring key agricultural policy updates and practical guidance.
