Joint TFA Media Release – Farming Organisations Voice Frustration at Lack of Detail on Future Farming Policy

Despite four years of discussions with DEFRA and with the end of the EU transitional period now weeks away, very little of the detail surrounding the Government’s plans for future farm policy in England are known.

Originally planned for announcement in July, we now expect a statement to be made at the end of February, following the one-year spending review from the Chancellor of the Exchequer.  Even so, the TFA is gravely concerned that this will contain insufficient detail to allow for businesses to adequately plan for the future.  The TFA has joined with other UK farming organisations including, the NFU, CLA and the Farming Unions of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to issue a statement calling upon the Government for greater clarity and engagement with farming organisations on the detail of what is planned.
