TFA Blog #06 – Covid-19: Every Mind Matters

At a time in which farmers are already seeing a negative impact on their income, the TFA wants to remind you of the importance of not just looking out for others, but also looking after yourself.

It is vital that farmers, like workers in other industries, are properly supported and know how to access help when they need it. Identifying stress, and looking after your mental health, is incredibly important for every single person, especially in these uncertain times.

Stress can lead to compromised mental health and implications to themselves, their family and business.  The TFA has produced a short video where TFA Adviser, Adriana Vaux, explains more about what we can do to promote wellbeing and mental health awareness within the industry.  To view this video, click here.

Public Health England’s Every Mind Matters has also launched a new suite of NHS-endorsed tips and advice.  These are focussed on looking after people’s mental wellbeing during the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.

Every Mind Matters has been developed in partnership with clinicians, academics and leading mental health charities.  It offers authoritative, evidence based and practical support to the general public, as well as people with specific mental wellbeing concerns. Every Mind Matters encourages people to complete a personal Mind Plan.  This is a quick and free interactive tool offering tailored mental well-being advice. More than 1.9 million Mind Plans have already been created since the launch in October 2019.

With many feeling worried or anxious during these challenging times, there are lots of things we can all do to look after our own mental health, and also help provide to others, to prevent these feelings from becoming more serious. The range of new Every Mind Matters resources, designed specifically to help manage our mental health during coronavirus, include a tailored Covid-19 Mind Plan, Covid-19 specific content for individuals, and their loved ones, and support for specific mental wellbeing issues such as anxiety, stress, low mood and trouble sleeping.  To find out more, click here or search Every Mind Matters to get your mind plan.
